Who’s Who Liz Sidebotham, Musical Director The Kessenyan Singers are delighted to welcome Liz Sidebotham who became our new Musical Director in January 2009. Liz brings a wealth of musical experience to the choir. She studied piano from an early age and started to accompany choirs when she was just 14. After gaining Associate and Licentiate diplomas from the London College of Music, she began teaching and writing music. As an accompanist, Liz has taken part in many festivals, competitions and concert tours, and at present accompanies three male voice choirs, one mixed choir and one ladies choir. She also regularly plays keyboard and accordion in a country dance band. Liz has written a number of award-winning compositions for male voice choirs, including The Hedgehog Song, The Glade and, most recently, Travel in Style which was performed in Cornwall in July 2008. There have also been performances of some of her other choral pieces – namely Trust not to Joy, I saw threeships, Star of Stars, Cornwall and The Web. David Mashford, Accompanist David Mashford has been accompanist to The Kessenyan Singers since 1997. An accomplished musician, he is the resident organist at the parish churches of Antony and Sheviock. He also plays the piano accordion and is leader of a local country dance band which performs at barn dances and other social events.
